Built in 1947. Helen A. Toland is the Clark County School District's first black female principal. Helen A. Toland arrived to Las Vegas in 1964. She was a long time educator and worked at Kit Carson Elementary School in the 1960's. In 2020, Kit Carson Elmentary School was renamed Toland Elementary School in honor of Helen A. Toland.

Listed on the City of Las Vegas Historic Property Register in 2019.
