Built in 1964 and operated as the Lotus Inn Motel until 1985. Becomes Thunderbird Hotel and is purchased by Bob Stupak. Later renamed Aruba Hotel and then Thunderbird Boutique Hotel.
Sambo's restaurants met its corporate demise in the early 1980s. The restaurant's name and the racially derogative images that decorated the restaurant's interiors contributed to the chain's demise.
