Originally opened as Vegas World in 1979. Construction of the Stratosphere observation tower begins in 1992. Vegas World becomes Stratosphere Las Vegas on April 30, 1996. Rebranded as The STRAT Hotel, Casino, and Skypod in 2019.

On May 30, 1991, high winds damaged the Vegas World sign.
