On September 7, 1996, after attending a boxing match between Mike Tyson and Bruce Seldon, Tupac Shakur was involved in a physical altercation at the MGM Grand Las Vegas. Later that night while waiting at a red light at the intersection of Flamingo Road and Koval Lane, Tupac Shakur and Suge Knight are gunned down in a drive by shooting (eastbound on Flamingo Road). Suge Knight survived the shooting. Tupac Shakur died six days later at UMC hospital. No one was ever charged for the crime.
